Why this Democratic Party Has Concealed their 2024 Election Autopsy: The Inside Story.

This move by the Democratic National Committee to suppress the public viewing of its internal autopsy report on the last presidential race is remarkable yet entirely predictable. Resistant to hard truths, the DNC operates closer to a publicity machine rather than a political organization committed to cultivating grassroots capacities capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Climate That Avoids Dissent

Reluctant to depart from the prevailing attitude demanding unity, the DNC has remained under that legacy throughout this past year. Making public such a report would have indicated whether the leadership are interested to promote honest conversation about the strategic failures that paved the way for the former president to win re-election. Yet, the committee is acting under the pretense that there are no lessons to understand following the stunning loss from the last cycle.

The top priority: will this lead to victory? If not, it’s a distraction from our fundamental goal," an explanation reportedly given for withholding the analysis.

Key Issues an Analysis Would Have Examined

A genuine analysis with any value would not dodge key points of failure. Among them are:

  • Electoral Disenchantment: The loss among millions of voters that backed the party's candidate in 2020 was decisive in the narrowly decided 2024 election.
  • The Insistence to Seek Re-election: The determined choice of a party leader to stay in the race, coupled with an extremely delayed step-aside, is seen by some as robbing Democratic voters of a genuine choice.
  • Failing Everyday Americans: While facing economic anxiety, the electoral effort reportedly ceding to elite contributors while failing to confront the role of corporate greed.
  • A Foreign Policy Impact: The failure to adjust an approach on a ongoing war reportedly led to driving away key demographic groups, particularly with youth voters, Arab-Americans, Muslim voters.
  • Eroding Youth Support: Extensive evidence demonstrates a huge drop-off in votes for the candidate from the youth electorate.

A Pattern Avoiding Accountability

Choosing secrecy fits a pattern to avoid difficult realities. It echoes an episode in which virtually every elected Democrat in Washington acquiesced to an incumbent's insistence on seeking another term until a catastrophic public debate performance led to a change.

Concurrently, a significant majority of the electorate were consistently telling pollsters that they opposed that candidate to run again.

Financial Concerns

A substantive analysis could examine matters regarding where money went, such as what sums flowed to high-priced advisors and media firms during an electoral effort that managed to spend a staggering amount over a few months.

The Broader Issue

Ultimately, the blockage surrounding this report is symptomatic of a submission to party leaders responsible for a losing presidential campaign. The signal to the party's base – including millions of loyal volunteers – appears to be that they do not have a right to know what the insiders have learned from hundreds of interviews drawing from extensive interviews.

An organization unable to publicly examine where it went wrong finds it difficult to break free from the cycle which was so beneficial to the rival party.
