Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
